Prabhakar Parshuram Wairkar
Prabhakar Wairkar was born in the quaint village of katta in Malvan,Maharashtra in 1951. His keen interest in Art brought him in Mumbai & acquired a Government Diploma in applied art from J.J. school of art. While pursuing his diploma he had the opportunity to work under the renowned animator Mr. Ram Mohan. At this time he also contributed to Textile designs for various textile mills. He also prepared credit titles for various Hindi Picture Films. Fresh out of college armed with education and experience in his hand and ambition in his heart, he began his career in advertising at Sobhagya Advtg. His professional experience includes noted names like Trikaya,Grey,Sista’s and then Rediffusion Y & R. He picked up caricaturing and cartooning as a hobby and that’s when he rediscovered his true calling.
Soon his works adorned the pages of prestigious newspapers, magazines and journals like the Indian Express, Business World, The Times Of India, The Sunday Observer, The Independent, The Indian Post, Blitz, The Daily, Sportsworld, Debonair, Ekach Shatkar,Savvy, Mid-day, Verve and various other regional newspapers and magazines like Aaple Mahanagar, Maharashtra Times, Loksatta, Lokprabha and Marmik etc. He has also created various illustrated Cartoons for programmes broadcasted on Television channels like IBN Network, Zee news, Sony Entertainment Television. Prabhakar Wairkar also had also the Honor of illustrating the Children’s version of Dreams to Reality, The Autobiography of Dr. A PJ Abdul Kalam.
